Designed by Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino, the Good Night Lamp is described as a “physical social network” that allows long distance friends, family and lovers to connect through a physical element – a lamp that lights up to indicate connectedness.

“When you buy Good Night Lamp it comes as a set of two lamps: a Big Lamp and a Little Lamp. When you turn on your Big Lamp, the Little Lamp turns on too. You can send your Little Lamp to your friend or family member anywhere in the world. There is no lengthy setup and no internet connection needed.”

This is very cool idea for those of us who have family scattered around the globe and would like a physical presence that helps us to feel connected to them and them to us. The Good Night Lamp was first unveiled at the 2013 Consumer Electronic Show and will be delivering its now sold-out set of 100 walnut-veneered Good Night Lamps March 1st 2015.

If you’d like to get your hands on a set of the lamps created in future batches, you can subscribe to their mailing list for notifications of when and where they can be purchased. The Good Night Lamp is only available for shipment to the UK & European customers at this time. The Lamps, however will work anywhere in the world.
